Enabling Transport Subsidy

Taxi Subsidy Scheme

Eligibility requirements:

  1. Monthly income of $2,800 or less (Singapore citizens)
  2. Monthly income of $2,000 or less (permanent residents)
  3. Not concurrently a recipient of the Taxi Subsidy Scheme.
  1. Person with permanent disabilities and medically certified as unable to take public transport
  2. Per capita monthly household income of $2,800 or below
  3. Singapore Citizen or permanent resident
  4. Currently schooling, working or attending employment-related training supported by SG Enable
  5. Not an owner of any motor vehicles

1. Enabling Transport Subsidy

This scheme supports Singapore citizens and permanent residents with disabilities. 

For those who require dedicated transport provided by Social Service Agencies, the scheme subsidies up to 80% of transport fees. 

The transport operators appointed by the SSAs are used to help wheelchair-users access Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC), Special Education (SPED) schools, Day Activity Centres (DACs), Sheltered Workshops (SWs) and Special Student Care Centres (SSCCs).

Eligibility

To be eligible, the applicant should meet the following requirements:

  1. For Singaporean citizens, a monthly income of $2,800 or less.
  2. For permanent residents, a monthly income of $2,000 or less.
  3. Not concurrently a recipient of the Taxi Subsidy Scheme.

Existing clients of Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC), Special Education (SPED) schools, Day Activity Centres (DACs), Sheltered Workshops (SWs) and Special Student Care Centres (SSCCs) may apply.

Application

Application for the Enabling Transport Subsidy is done through the SPED school or Social Service Agencies. A means test will be conducted and a subsidy request will be sent to SG Enable for the applicant. 

The SPED school and Social Service Agencies will appoint the transport operator and availability will vary across the different providers.

2. Taxi Subsidy Scheme

This scheme is targeted at people with permanent disabilities who are medically certified as being unable to take public transport. They are completely dependent on taxis for transport to school, work or employment-related training supported by SG Enable.

The scheme subsidises a percentage of the total taxi fare for each trip (including additional charges like booking fees, peak period surcharge and ERP charges).

Eligibility

To be eligible, the applicant should meet the following requirements:

  1. A person with permanent disabilities who is medically certified as being unable to take public transport and is completely dependent on taxis for transport to school, work or employment-related training supported by SG Enable.
  2. From a family with a per capita monthly household income of $2,800 or below.
  3. Is a Singapore Citizen or permanent resident.
  4. Currently schooling, working or attending employment-related training supported by SG Enable.
  5. Not currently an owner of any motor vehicles.

The subsidy amounts will depend on:

  • If the applicant is a Singapore Citizen or permanent resident.
  • The applicant’s per capita monthly household income. 
  • The distance travelled between home and school/work/training.

Application processing time

The application will be processed within 15 working days from the complete submission of documents.

The Taxi Subsidy Scheme card will be issued and sent to approved applicants of the scheme within 2 to 4 weeks.
