Wheelchair Access Guide: Haw Par Villa

Wheelchair Access Guide Haw Par Villa

In 1935, Burmese-Chinese brothers Aw Boon Haw and Aw Boon Par purchased land in Singapore and began constructing Haw Par Villa. The villa was bombed and occupied by the Japanese during the Japanese occupation, and was later demolished after the war leaving only a garden.

Between 1937 and 1954, Aw Boon Haw commissioned statues and dioramas for the garden to teach about traditional Chinese values. After his death in 1954, the garden was turned into a public park.

A visit to Haw Par Villa today brings guests through the eclectic and quirky collection of Asian culture, Confusianism, folklore and history.
