Criteria

When applying to stay in a nursing home, an elderly must meet the following criteria:

1. Physically or mentally disabled because of illness
2. Is semi-mobile, using a wheelchair or is bed-bound and required daily care and assistance with activities like walking or going to the toilet
3. Cannot be cared for at home by their family or paid domestic worker; not suited for care options like daycare, home medical, home nursing services

Cost

Depending on the level of care required, the basic cost to stay in a nursing home ranges from $2000 to $3600 per month (before MOH subsidy). Other charges (one-time deposit, administrative charges) outside of the basic cost apply.
